The City of Sedona is located in north Central Arizona on State Route 89A and State Route 179. Interstate Highway I-17 runs in a north-south route to the east of the city.

Many travelers on Historic Route 66 make a fun side trip to visit Sedona, only about 30 miles south of Flagstaff.

It covers an area of about 19 square miles, and sits at an elevation of 4,500 feet. Its population in 2017 was about 10,400 residents.

The popular small tourist town of Jerome is only 27 miles to the southwest.

Four mild seasons in Sedona feature sunny, blue skies and clean air! With an average daily high temperature of  75F and over 300 sunny days, Sedona is a year-round leisure destination. Sedona brings out the best in every season, and winter is no exception. Sedona’s winter weather stays close to ideal. Temperatures remain mild during the days with cool, comfortable evenings.

We have visited Sedona times when driving Route 66 in Arizona, and and have enjoyed the many sights and attractions in the city, and surrounding natural areas.

Spend a day, ideally many more, and enjoy and explore the beauty of the city before returning to Route 66!
